Other Items of Note

The 15th of September 2011 will mark the 6th anniversary of the PARK (ing) Day initiative.
PARK (ing) Day is an annual, worldwide event that invites city dwellers everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary urban, active green public parks for the public good for one day. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat.

PARK (ing) Day has been running for 6 years, and continued to build momentum. In 2010, 850 parks across 183 cities in 30 countries over 6 continents were created. Brisbane had the third highest number of park entries with a fare few coming from university students, design studios and local community groups. More information can be found at http://parkingday.org/

Lazy Sunday Cycle - Enabling Brisbane people to get cycling on normal bikes in normal clothes.

Lazy Sunday Cycle is aimed at anyone and everyone who wants to ride a bicycle for fun; enthused and confident cyclists, people who are 'interested but a little bit concerned' about cycling, people who just want to get out there and have a go at cycling and people who want to cycle with other people. It’s aimed at everyone and anyone; young people, old people, families with children with stabilizers, people with fancy bikes and people with cargo bikes and people with bikes with baskets!

So leave your lycra at home and don your cycle chic for Brisbane’s brilliant new experience Lazy Sunday Cycle.

Lazy Sunday Cycle takes place on the first Sunday of every month. The time is ripe for slow cycling....

So please tell your friends, like the Facebook page, Twitter if you’re taking part or shout it from your rooftop!  https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=219115094799101#!/pages/Lazy...
