European cycling infrastructure report; and
Report back from Walk21 International Walking Conference in New York
NOTE: This seminar is available via Skype. See below for details.

Held on Tuesday 30 March 2010, 6:00pm to 7:30pm

In his visual presentation sustainable transport consultant, Warren Salomon, takes us on a tour through six European cities looking at some interesting examples of bicycle, pedestrian and public transport facilities. The cities visited include Brussels and Ghent in Belgium, Breda and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Freiburg in southern Germany and Strasbourg in France. Facilities include both on-and off-road cycleways, bike ‘n’ ride (to rail) and pedestrian facilities and innovative uses of public space.

The 10th International Walking Conference was held in New York in October 2009. Drew Westbrook and Robyn Davies both attended. They will report back on the highlights from the conference, including the “back story” to New York’s radical transformations of major roads into great places for pedestrians. There will be particular emphasis on initiatives that might apply in Australia and New Zealand.
